County Longford is one of the administrative counties of the Republic of Ireland and one of the thirty-two traditional counties of the island of Ireland. It is located within the province of Leinster and is part of the administrative Midlands Region. It was named after the town of Longford. With an area of 1,091 km² (421 square miles) and a population of 34,361, Longford is the fourth smallest of the 32 counties in area and second smallest in terms of population. It is also the fourth smallest of Leinster’s 12 counties in size and smallest by population.
