County Cavan
County Cavan is an administrative county in the Republic of Ireland and one of the thirty-two traditional counties of the island of Ireland, located in the province of Ulster. The county takes its name from the town of Cavan and is colloquially known as the Breffni County,. It has a population of 64,003 according to the 2006 census. It is one of the three Ulster counties that is not part of Northern Ireland. The language spoken in the county is predominantly English, with just 35% of the Cavan population also Irish speaking. The county is bordered by County Monaghan, County Leitrim, County Longford, County Meath, County Westmeath and County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. Cavan is the 19th largest of the thiry-two counties in area and the 25th largest by population. It is also the sixth largest of Ulster's nine counties in size and the seventh largest by population.
